Steve Vaughn in Movement One Dance Documentary

Check out dancer Steven Vaughn in an awesome new dance documentary. “Movement One is a dance documentary that follows producer/composer Jon Arpino and Emmy-nominated choreographer Teddy Forance as they create an original dance production for film. In just 8 days, 20 dancers collaborated to choreograph and perform a 30-minute dance production set to an original score. The film takes viewers into the studio to witness the entire creative process—from choreography to music composition—concluding with a performance that pushes the boundaries of dance on film.” Congrats Steve!

Sold Out All Five Shows in Korea

Parsons Dance had another spectacular run at the LG Arts Center in Seoul, Korea. The 1,103 seat Theater was sold out for all five performances of Remember Me. The Company received a standing ovation and an overwhelmingly positive response from the fans during the autograph signing after the show. Congratulations on a wonderful tour everyone!

David Parsons Honored in Milan

David Parsons traveled to Milan over the Thanksgiving holiday to sit as a guest judge on a panel for the Milano Danza Expo. He judged the competition as well as taught a master choreography workshop to the competing dancers. David received an award honoring his contribution to choreography and dance in Italy over the last 25 years. Congrats David!

Parsons joins the NYC Dance Community in promoting “It Gets Better”

Parsons Dance joins the NYC Dance Community in their group video message for the It Gets Better Project, promoting their message of happiness, potential, and positivity directed at young LGBT people. Former executive director David Harrison is featured in the video alongside other members of the NYC Dance Community.

The It Gets Better Project™ has become a worldwide movement, inspiring more than 50,000 user-created videos viewed more than 50 million times. To date, the project has received submissions from celebrities, organizations, activists, politicians and media personalities, including President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Silverman, Ellen DeGeneres, the staffs of Google, Facebook, Pixar, the Broadway community, and many more. For us, every video changes a life. It doesn’t matter who makes it.

ItGetsBetter.org is a place where young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender can see how love and happiness can be a reality in their future. Introducing our new Executive Director, John Krasno.

John Krasno, a seasoned arts administrator with extensive business experience has been named the new Executive Director of Parsons Dance.

“I am so happy to join Parsons Dance. This is an incredible opportunity to support a great choreographer in a wonderful organization,” said Mr. Krasno.

Krasno joins Parsons Dance after a three-year tenure with the Oklahoma City Ballet, where he served as the executive director. Under his leadership the company’s audience and budget doubled. He also worked with local authorities to create a nationally lauded educational program to bring the arts to economically disadvantaged public school children.

“All of us at Parsons Dance are thrilled and excited to have John Krasno join our team. We welcome him back to New York. I look forward to working with John to take Parsons Dance to new creative heights with such strong operational support,” said David Parsons, artistic director of Parsons Dance.

Krasno will succeed David Harrison, who left to join the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, Philly Fringe, and Live Arts Brewery.
