UNION (1993) Choreography by David Parsons Lighting Design by Howell Binkley Music by John Corigliano – Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra: II Elegy Costume Design by Donna Karan Staged by Elizabeth Koeppen
Born out of an AIDS benefit at the Lincoln Center, UNION features ten dancers in a slow-paced intermingling of bodies. The dreamlike movements slowly fuse into a wonderful, quietly pulsating organism. The effort was aided by designer Donna Karan’s striking costumes and Academy Award-winning composer John Corigliano’s score. This slow, passionate dance features a series of languorous lifts and geometric combinations as dancers move in a churning, sensuous mass. | |
